Dhabitah Sabri Catapults Into The 2020 Tokyo Olympics
National diver, Nur Dhabitah Sabri is set to join Team Malaysia to the Olympics held in Tokyo, next year!
The 20-year-old impressed the judges at the Asian Diving Cup 2019 with her stunning performance with 313.85 points in the women’s 3 metre springboard individual category which won her a gold medal.
Speaking to The Star at the National Aquatic Centre, Dhabitah expressed how she was all nerves right before the race – “Alhamdulillah, I finally got the Olympic slot. I was nervous although we had a chance. Maybe it’s because of home ground and I wanted to give my best.”
In the end, Dhabitah ended up securing not one but TWO gold medals! She also came out tops in the mixed 3 metre event together with her partner in crime, Muhd Syafiq Puteh with a record-breaking score of 286.56 points.
This victory makes Dhabitah the fourth Malaysian to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics after Pandelela Rinong, Leong Mun Yee and Wendy. It also marks her second appearance at the Olympics.
Congratulations, Dhabitah on this amazing feat. We look forward to witness all our national divers shine in the Tokyo Olympics 2020!
