24-year-old James Marshall’s apparel, 10T, recently debuted at Absolut Trash, London’s first fashion show featuring sustainable fashion.

What’s special about the clothing lies in its material. James with the help of family and friends spent last summer scavenging campsites and collecting abandoned tents following the Eden Festival in the Scottish Borders and Kendal Calling in the Lake District.

He managed to collect around 300 tents which were then transformed into trendy and fashionable hats, bags and jackets by London fashion designer, Imogen Evans.

James, a graduate of Napier University in Edinburgh with a Masters in environmental sustainability told The Scottish Sun, “It was a good feeling to get that recognition. It was nice to have validation that the idea works and that we can take it to market.”

He also worked with a charity in England which collects abandoned festival tents to give away to refugees and were willing to collect broken tents to send them over to him.

Together with his team, James said “we collect, sort and clean the materials and make the products ourselves.”

He even has ideas to transform other types of waste in the near future!

Bravo, James!
