Pos Malaysia Takes Swift Action To Suspend Employee Who Allegedly Pelted Dog
Pos Malaysia has taken swift action against a postman who was captured on video injuring a dog’s eye by shooting it with a slingshot from across a house gate.
In a 21-second CCTV video which was recently posted on the Malaysia Independent Animal Rescue (MIAR) Facebook page, a man in a Pos Malaysia uniform on a motorcycle is seen looking at a dog which is inside its owner’s compound.
He is seen then using what looks like a slingshot to fire something towards the dog, which then scurries away.
According to the Facebook post, the dog’s left eye was injured in the incident which allegedly took place in Kluang, Johor, yesterday.

In our opinion, Pos Malaysia failed to have in house education on the awareness of animal welfare…Posted by Malaysia Independent Animal Rescue on Monday, 22 February 2021
The Pos Malaysia statement which was posted on MIAR’s Facebook said they truly regretted the action taken by the postman and were currently investigating the matter.
“We have identified the postman in the video and he has been immediately suspended pending the outcome of the invetigation. Pos Malaysia will not tolerate such misconduct from any of our employees and will not hesitate to take stern action, which includes termination of service,” read the statement.
Following the viral video, netizens have expressed outrage and called for action to be taken. They even took to Pos Malaysia Berhad’s Facebook page urging the company to take disciplinary action against its employee.
A police report had also since been lodged and MIAR was apparently having its animal rights lawyers assist Sivam, the dog’s owner, pursue legal action.
It was learnt that Pos Malaysia representatives had wanted to meet with Sivam to discuss dropping the charges made against them. Sivam however had refused to do so.
