A 70-year-old man from Johor Bahru recently proved that age was no barrier in achieving his dreams as he completed his doctorate from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Skudai, recently.
Dr Abdul Rahim Ramli got his Doctoral Diploma despite also suffering from hypertension and diabetes.
He said he decided to pursue his doctorate six years back and was encouraged by his wife and kids.
Abdul Rahim had worked as a part-time lecturer in a polytechnic until 2019 after he retired in 2006.
His son, Prof. Ir. Dr Sharul Kamal Abdul Rahim, who is also the teaching staff in UTM had always been his moral support during his journey in obtaining the PhD.
After a hard six-year journey, he received his PhD at the university’s recent 64th convocation and is the oldest graduate from UTM.
