Three of the country’s top doubles bronze medalists at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, Teo Ee Yi-Ong Yew Sin and German Open champion, Nur Izzuddin Rumsani-Goh Sze Fei became the nation’s backbone
after delivering stellar results at the Thomas Cup.
This time, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) when announcing the doubles line-up saw Aaron take over as the team captain in this campaign also listed the young doubles player, Chia Weijie.
Also taking on the challenge at the championship is the country’s top men’s singles player, Lee Zii Jia, who will be joined by Liew Daren, Ng Tze Yong, Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin and Leong Jun Hao.
Meanwhile, S Kisona will lead the Uber Cup squad’s national women’s singles challenge with Goh Jin Wei, Eoon Qi Xuan, Pearly Tan, M Thinaah along with seven new faces.
The seven new faces who will make their first appearances are Myisha Mohd Khairul, Tan Zhing Yi, Anna Cheong, Teoh Mei Xing, Low Yeen Yuan, Valeree Siow and Chan Wen Tse.
The tournament will be hosted at Bangkok, Thailand in the Impact Arena from 8 to 15 May 2022. This marks the third time Thailand will host the Thomas Cup, and second time for the Uber Cup.
