There are many things in life we take for granted, not realising many among us cannot even afford these little things.
Buying notebooks for school may not be a big deal for most, but for some Malaysians, that RM5 or RM10 goes a long way.
Recently, a teacher took to Facebook to share the plight of a student who did not bring any notebooks to his class.
Cikgu Asraf said the student had lost he dad and was now living with her single mother who sells ulam for a living.
Due to the dire financial situation of her family, she was unable to afford any notebooks.
Cikgu Asraf then took it upon himself once he learnt of the student’s situation to help her.
He bought her a new set of notebooks and gave it to the student after class was over.
The student was delighted and thanked the teacher for his kind deed.
The teacher also reminded others not to be too quick to label students as lazy or useless without first understanding their true situations.
He said teachers should be more understanding and take time to speak to their students before drawing any conclusions.
