Cultural diversity is one of the main agendas of Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), said its future President (President-designate) Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin.
According to her, it is among the six cores of the party which also includes the empowerment of women and youth, economic development, education, advancement of science and technology.
“PBM urges the people to say ‘no’ to any form of racism and set aside all differences to work together for the good of all and future generations.
“The future begins with us today. We are all part of the Malaysian Family, need to further strengthen the foundations of multiculturalism, race and remain strong and united to face all the challenges ahead,” she said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Ampang MP stressed that Malaysia has no place for bigotry and previous leaders have laid a solid foundation to ensure that this plural country continues to thrive in diversity.
“We should not allow racist and extremist elements to tear down the structure of this country,” she said.
Zuraida said, PBM also welcomed the recent call by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to adopt the concept of ‘friendship’ or tolerance as long as it does not violate Islamic principles.
“This is in line with the concept of the Malaysian Family which is a feature of his administration.
“Tolerance and racial understanding are essential for the future prosperity of our beloved country,” she said.
