Interest for learning has always been ingrained in the soul of model, singer, actor and law graduate, Dr Soo Wincci.
Known to be a jack of all trades, Wincci has made a name for herself in various fields of work such as law, business, music and entertainment.
It is no surprise that her capability earned her the title of Miss World Malaysia in 2008 as well as the “Top 10 Most Outstanding Young Malaysian Award” in 2016. Recently, Wincci made history by becoming the first Miss World Malaysia to be appointed Associate Professor in the field of music.
This appointment qualified her for the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) recognition on April 1.
“People always associate April 1 with the ‘April Fool’ teasing. However, that date I was officially appointed Associate Professor. Starting as a beautiful queen, flying everywhere to seek knowledge and gain experience.
“Finally, my step into the world of professors. I am now a lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam in the subject of music production and business.
“I teach in 70 to 80 students who are all in the B40 group,” she said.
Wincci said that, so far, the assignment schedule as a lecturer has not interfered with other commitments.
“I will fly to Valencia, Spain during the semester break or after the exam. I will be teaching a virtual session if I am in another country location.
“I teach almost every day at UiTM, except Saturdays and Sundays. So, I can focus on my interests as an artist and production work,” she adds.
Even with the remarkable achievement, Wincci is not stopping her tracks and is aiming to explore the endless possibilities.
“I’m targeting eight PhDs actually. Now, I only have two. My third PhD is likely to be majoring in international law. It’s just that I don’t know which university to pursue,” she said.
Congratulations Dr Soo Wincci, truly an inspiration for the youth of Malaysia.
