The hype surrounding the appearance of 49-year-old South African billionaire, Elon Musk on USA series Saturday Night Live, was supposed to be about the meme-inspired cryptocurrency, Dogecoin, that has recently taken the world by storm.
However, the self-proclaimed the “Dogefather”, who made his “Saturday Night Live” debut on Saturday, caught everyone off-guard when he revealed he was the first person with Asperger’s Syndrome, to host SNL.

Downside for investors in Dogecoin was that as Musk was making his experience, the cryptocurrency fell 30% only to rebound on Sunday. Year to date, the coin has surged to just shy of 12,000%
During Musk’s opening monologue, he poked fun at himself and the tweets that he usually sends out. He poked fun at his eccentric nature and ambitious plans to send people to Mars.
“I know I sometimes say or post strange things, but that’s just how my brain works.
“To anyone I’ve offended, I just want to say, I reinvented electric cars and I’m sending people to Mars in a rocket ship. Did you think I was also going to be a chill, normal dude?” he asked, to applause and laughter.
Musk who is famous for his Tesla and Space X companies shared his goals for the future and mentioned that it was an honor to host the show.
While joking about his disorder, Musk said, “So I won’t make a lot of eye contact with the cast tonight. But don’t worry, I’m pretty good at running ‘human’ in emulation mode.”
Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger’s, is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.
It is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), but differs from other ASDs by relatively unimpaired language and intelligence. Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness and unusual use of language are common.
