The Royal Malaysia Police aka Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) has officially appointed its new deputy chief officer and its none other than Datuk Yong Lei Choo!
The transfer directive issued by the Bukit Aman Police Headquarters was effective last Friday (25 November 2019) marking a historical moment in the Malaysian police force with the FIRST-EVER female to uphold the duties of a deputy chief officer (Talk about girl power!)
Prior to the promotion, Datuk Yong was the commandant of the Royal Malaysian Police College (RMP College). Throughout her service as the first Chinese female to head the institution, she has taken great efforts to transform the institution and produce senior police officers who are knowledgeable. In fact, she was instrumental in introducing the concept of language centres for police officers to learn Mandarin and other languages to bring the police force closer to the community.
“This is why we are inviting local and foreign lecturers and professionals to impart knowledge on various fields,” she told The Star.
Other senior police officers who were transferred/promoted are Datuk Tan Chong Jin, Datuk Dr. Laila Ali, ACP Dalbir Singh Tanah Singh, ACP Lukas Anak Aket, ACP Che Zamani Che Awang, Supt Nor Omar Sappi and Supt Soffian Santong.
We would like to congratulate them on this accomplishment and express our gratitude for their tireless efforts in maintaining peace and order in our beloved nation!
