A chaotic scene ensued after a what was thought to be a hand grenade was discovered recently at the construction site of the Tun Razak Exchange project (TRX).
The “grenade” was apparently caked in mud and was found in a pile of dirt which was excavated from a drain.
Facebook user, Mohd Nurul Syuhada WC said about noon, a sub-contractor informed him about the “grenade” which was discovered after digging a drain there.
“The contractor was holding it in his hands. I immediately called the police and a Bomb Disposal Unit arrived soon after and the area was cordoned off as a security measure.
“They also taped the bomb to ensure the pin was not accidentally released,” he wrote.

He said about 20 policemen, including those from the explosives forensic team spent about two hours securing the site.
Soon after, the Bomb Disposal Unit head arrived at the scene and confirmed that the “grenade” was nothing more than a power bank.
“The cops felt they were pranked and asked me to lodge an official report on the entire incident.
“I went home and checked online and indeed there is a brand from China exactly like the one found,” added Mohd Nurul.
According to reports in The Star, Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah has since confirmed the story and said that it was indeed a power bank that was found, and thankfully not a grenade.
