The national bowling team is on track to secure the SEA Games medals in the men’s and women’s team events, after topping the first day on Wednesday.
The men’s team comprising Nevern Netaneel, Mohd Hafiz Zainuddin, Mohd Syazirol Shamsuddin and Shahrukh Amin Zulkifli did 2,678 pin drops to finish the tournament at the Heroworld Bowling Center, Vincom Megamall Royal City.
The Philippines line-up by Patrick Nugui, Christian Viray, Ivan Malig and Merwin Matheiu Tan finished the tournament with 2,611 pinfalls, whereas the Singaporean team, with Mohd Jaris Goh, Timothy Tham, Darren Ong and Cheah Ray Han finished with 2,497 pinfalls.
“We have been preparing for a team event for so long and today’s result was how we wanted it to be. We all did our best today and I am proud of my team.
“We will continue to maintain the momentum. We can’t be too confident or feel in the comfort zone, we still have to do our best at tomorrow’s competition,” Shahrukh Amin said.
Meanwhile, the women’s team represented by Nur Syazwani Sahar, Nerosha Keligit, Nora Lyana Nastasia Kamal and Gillian Lim dropped 2,506 pins to top the chart on Wednesday.
Daphne Tan, Bernice Lim, New Hui Fen and Cherie Tan of Singapore were in second place with 2,443 pinfalls while Putty Armein, Shinta Yunita, Sharon Limansantoso and Tannya Roumpiper of Indonesia were in third place with 2,346 pins.
