The new Kota Bharu Sentral Integrated Bus Station Terminal is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

State Works, Infrastructure, Transport and Utilities Exco Datuk Azami Mohd Nor said the construction of a terminal to replace the temporary bus terminal in the Sireh Valley went underway by issuing a ‘Request For Proposal’ (RFP) for the Kota Bharu Sentral Integrated Transport Terminal development project at the end of last year.

According to him, the entire development will be completed within nine years.

“The RFP process was disrupted due to Covid-19. However, the state government on June 1, selected a company listed on the main board category stock exchange to implement the Kota Bharu Sentral development on 6,948 acres of land involving the Integrated Bus Station, commercial buildings and apartments,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters at the Kelantan State Assembly (DUN) sitting in Kota Darulnaim on Monday.

Previously, there were photos and videos regarding the Sireh Valley Bus Terminal which was allegedly too backward and did not provide comfort to users.

Commenting on the water problem in Kelantan, Azami said that Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd has implemented long-term plans including increasing raw water resources, upgrading and building new Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) as well as implementing a program to replace dilapidated pipes to reduce non-revenue water (NRW).

He added that currently, the source of raw water for public water supply services in Kelantan is through river water abstraction (47 percent), river water filtration (29 percent) and groundwater (24 percent).

“Plans have been made to retain river water through the Riverfront Water Reservoir (TAPS) and Dam Reservoir methods. The proposed construction of TAPS which is expected to be completed in 2027 with a capacity of 500 million liters per day (JLH) is planned in Labok, Machang,” he said.

He said the guarantee of raw water in the northern part of the Kelantan River Basin would increase when TAPS was completed.

“The abstraction of raw water through the dam reservoir will be realised when the Nenggiri Dam Construction Project is completed in 2027,” he added.
