A mother brought her son, believed to be just over a year old, to a 24-hour clinic – Pusat Perubatan Intan in Terengganu about 10pm, recently.

According to Twitter user, @anne_nma, she was there waiting for her father to see the doctor when she overheard the conversation at the medicine counter.

Malam tadi, 22 June, kejadian berlaku dalam pkul10 lebih. Aku pegi klinik, hantar ayah sebab sakit batu karang. Klinik semua dah tutup, yang bukak Pusat Perubatan Intan je. Sebab dorg bukak 24Jam. Aku tunggu ayah masuk jumpa doctor dpn entrance klinik. pic.twitter.com/UsaOtIpg8L

The nurse told the mother that medication for her son would be RM60. The woman handed the nurse a government healthcare card which the nurse told her cannot be accepted at this particular clinic.

Dejected, the mother said she would have to give up the medication for her son as she did not have enough money to pay for it.

She was just about to walk away to her husband who was waiting on a motorcycle with her son when the nurse stopped her.

“Your poor child is not well. Just take the medicine, I will pay for it,” said the nurse, catching the mother totally off-guard with her gesture of kindness.

The mother refused, but the nurse insisted she accept the medicine, go home to look after her child.

After the family left, @anne_nma also offered to pay for the medicine but the nurse refused.

She said she wanted to pay for it as she felt bad for the mother and child.

The posting has since gone viral and netizens have come out in praise for the kindness shown by the nurse.

A Twitter user tweeted, “As we are struggling during this pandemic, more heroes are emerging. And as it says, heroes do not have to wear capes. I learnt a lot here.”
