With Christmas being only three days away, the spirit of giving and unity seemed to be filling the hearts of fellow Malaysians. It captures what Malaysians are truly made of.

A wild dog, found tangled to a tree branch caught in barbed wire, alongside the Karak Highway, was rescued by a group of passersby, who stopped their vehicles on the roadside to assist the panicked canine.

A video capturing the whole ordeal circulated online and was soon trending. Nahur Omar was the first who spotted the dog as he was travelling along the highway. He parked his vehicle to give aid to the dog, while his wife recorded a video of it.

The video shows Nahur bravely pacifying the growling dog before trying his best to untangle the dog from the sharp barbed wires. This proved to be a challenging task without causing further hurt to the dog.

Soon, more passersby stopped to help. One of the men had a pocketknife, which was then used to cut the dog free. As the saying goes, ‘’Many hands make light work”, as the determined group went about the task of freeing the dog.

After the stray dog was finally set free, it began to scamper off, away from the crowd and back into the nearby bushes.

The group laid out some food on the ground in case the hurt dog needed nourishment. The video went on to show the group celebrating the rescue, which was indeed a tale of compassion, harmony, unity and cooperation among Malaysians of all races.

The video concluded with an image of a cyclist pouring water to wash Nahur’s hands.
