A 38-year-old contractor was the highlight of the 2022 Kota Kinabalu City Borneo Half Marathon recently when he got down on his knees and proposed to his girlfriend.
Steven Lim, from Kuala Lumpur, did this at the finishing line of the 21km run.

He said he had planned to propose in October 2021, but put it off due to the Covid-19 situation then.
He decided to participate in the marathon and propose to Leah Tan as her family was in Kota Kinabalu.
“While I was running, my mind was thinking about her. I was quite confident that she will accept my proposal, as we love each other so much,” he said, adding that he roped 40 of his friends to help him for the surprise.
A joyful Tan said yes to Lim’s unique proposal.
The event saw some 400 participants taking part in the 21 KM and 10 KM categories, which was held in conjunction with the 22nd anniversary of Kota Kinabalu being proclaimed as a city.
