With the pandemic going on, many people often feel demotivated and struggle to get by.
Whilst the ongoing lockdown has stripped some away from their jobs and cast a morbid feeling, this Pasar Segar co-founder managed to put a smile to a lorry driver’s face by offering him a permanent job.
Pasar Segar’s head of corporate communication, Aws Qarny, took it to Twitter to talk about how his boss, Mastura, helped out a seasonal lorry driver.
The lorry driver is no stranger as he often delivers goods to Pasar Segar since 2020. He asked Mastura to assist him in applying for a moratorium, further explaining that he was unable to pay for his lorry. He also stated that his business had deteriorated due to the pandemic.
“He (the lorry driver) had previously contacted the bank and was directed to apply for the moratorium online. But since he is not tech-savvy, he requested Kak Mastura’s help,” Aws said as quoted from Says.
After looking at the tenure extensions and the final interest for his moratorium, the lorry driver was in great shock and deep sorrow. Mastura talked to him and eventually offered him a job as a permanent driver to transport goods from the port for Pasar Segar.
“Kak Mastura offered to pay for his lorry as well as salary for him to get back on his feet. She also taught him how to open a business account to apply for available government assistance,” Aws added.
Aws stated that there are many people out there that are not highly educated and tech-savvy and that he hopes his story will inspire those people to seek guidance.
“We should help the underprivileged people in our society without seeing their race or religion. Now we can’t hope on anyone else, only #KitaJagaKita.”
