The problem of potholes is one that Malaysians know all too well and probably face on a daily basis.
Well, for an Indonesian man in Lombok, the problem was much bigger than usual and he decided to take matters into his own hands.
Apparently, the authorities had not fixed the problem despite numerous complaints, so Amaq Ohan decided to make the most of the situation.
The pothole was already filled with water from rain over the last few days, so Amaq decided to do some fishing and later, even have his bath in the puddle.
His shenanigans did not go unnoticed and videos of him in the puddle soon went viral – prompting the authorities to begin immediate repair works.
Local residents found his antics amusing and many stopped to take videos and photographs of him.
Before he took his daily shower, he was also spotted sitting on a chair, casting a fishing rod into the huge pothole.
Apparently, the damaged road in Praya City, Central Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara had also caused numerous accidents.
Ohan, a social activist and volunteer from the Tulus Angen Community said he decided to protest as the damaged road and drainage in the area had claimed many victims.
Rian Mahesa, part of the same organisation who filmed the quirky protest, highlighted the importance of the site of the protest.
“It is located in the middle of the city, very close to the magnificent and luxurious buildings in Central Lombok, including the IPDN NTB campus building, the Lombok Tourism Polytechnic Building and the Central Lombok Regent’s Office,” he explained.
