Two prominent community leaders, well known among the Penangites for their dedication and ongoing contribution towards peace and harmony in society were presented the Ambassador For Peace Award by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF).
They are Dato Ramachandran Muthiah, the Executive Director of Penang Hindu Endowment Board and Dr Gunasegaran Ramiah Pillai, Advisor, Malaysia Hindudharma Mamandram Penang.
The Award was presented by UPF Malaysia National President, Mr Sudesh Balasubramaniam and UPF National Liaison Director, Mr Lai Peng Keong during the Malaysia Leadership Seminar at The Light Hotel, Seberang Jaya, Penang on 20 March 2022.

The international award is part of a global network of leaders that honours achievement and signifies a new appointment to a mission to serve the common good.
Some 60 participants comprising of government officials, professionals and NGO leaders were present at the event, with YB A. Kumaresan, the State Assemblyman of Batu Uban as the Guest of Honour.
The seminar, themed “Providing Vision and Leadership for Peace” offered several presentations on applying peace principles for sustainable development.

The Peace Children Care Center (PCCC) was the charity beneficiary of the leadership seminar. The 12 children of the home mesmerised the audience with 4 songs in Malay, English, Mandarin and Tamil
“In the recent years, there is an increasing public alarm about the current state of national unity and social harmony… I would like to call upon all the Ambassadors for Peace, peace loving delegates to work closely with the government to foster unity and harmony for a better Malaysia,” said YB Kumaresan in his closing remarks.
The seminar was also a fundraiser for the Peace Children Care Center (PCCC) in Penang. The home currently houses 12 children aging 4-12 years old who come from broken families. Mr Alagesan Ayaru, one of the founding members of PCCC and the President of Persatuan Kebajikan Asas Pulau Pinang (PKAPP) thanked all the sponsors for the generous contribution for the home.
