The Ministry of Transport (MOT) has appointed Datuk Roger Tan Kor Mee and Datuk Wan Kamaruzaman Wan Ahmad as the two new members of the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) effective last Wednesday until June 7, 2025.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said Tan, who is the leader of Messrs Roger Tan and Partners and a member of the Bar Council, is no stranger to the civil service having served as an external consultant for the Johor and Federal governments for a long time.
“Wan Kamaruzaman has served as a board member of several major corporate entities in Malaysia, was the former Chief Executive Officer of the Retirement Fund (Incorporated) (KWAP) and is now a member of the Investment Panel for the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).
“We would also like to thank and highly appreciate Datuk Mah Weng Kwai and Datuk Fauziah Yaacob for their contributions throughout their tenure as members of the commission since 2016,” he said in a statement here on Sunday.
Apart from that, Wee also informed that Datuk Seri Long See Wool was also re-appointed as a member of the commission effective March 1 until Feb 28, 2025.
He said Long, who had served for more than 34 years and had served as the MOT Secretary -General, had been serving as a member of the commission since 2016.
Wee also thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for approving the appointment of the new commission members.
“We congratulate and pray for their appointment to develop the airline industry to a higher level in the effort towards economic recovery,” he said.
