According to Sinar Harian, the Pengkalan Chepa Health Clinic is the first ever health centre to introduce this service in the country.
Going by the name, ‘Kawe Ata Ubat Demo – RxDelivery 2U’, the initiative aims to deliver medication to the patients’ door step.
The service is carried out through a runner who delivers medication to local patients by motorcycle.
Mohammad Aswady Adenan, the clinic’s pharmaceutical officer, came up with the idea after discovering that many elderly patients struggle to travel to the clinic – “I pitied them as some of them live far from the clinic. After registering, they need to wait for the medicine to be dispensed,” he told Malay Mail.

The delivery service saves them the hassle of travelling to the hospital. In addition, the runners are equipped with the knowledge on how to handle medicine.
Patients who are senior citizens and those with special needs are only charged a nominal sum of RM3 to RM5 for the delivery.
Since it was introduced in May, it appears that congestion at the clinic has reduced. In fact, fellow Malaysians have requested other clinics to implement this service.
Indeed, a novel way of giving back to the community and making a positive impact!
