Perseverance Pays Off For 25-Year-Old With Special Needs
It was a memorable day for Hussain Said when he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Malay Language and Linguistics. The 25-year-old who is wheelchair-bound had always dreamt of furthering his studies like his older siblings.
Although his disability presented some challenges, he was determined to make his dreams a reality!
Growing up, Hussain was often teased by his classmates for his disability. The Universiti Putra Malaysia graduate recalls an incident in school – “My friends used to imitate the way I walked when I was in primary school. At first, it affected my emotions, but bit by bit, I got desensitized to it and just focused on my dreams of furthering my studies,” as reported by Harian Metro.
Looks like Hussain definitely got the last laugh as his hard work finally paid off!
The 25-year-old graduate also expressed gratitude to those responsible for his success – his parents!
“There were times when I almost gave up but my parents would remind me of what I had achieved and that I should not let my efforts go to waste,” he said.
Currently pursuing his Master’s degree, Hussain hopes to become a lecturer and inspire other people with disabilities to achieve their dreams.
Congratulations, Hussain! Your inspiring story teaches us that hard work and a positive attitude paves the way for success.
