For some, toys are not just something to play with but can also carry sentimental value and nostalgia as we grow older.
For this disabled teenager in the UK, she found a sense of happiness with the kindness of people despite the fact that her favourite toy of fifteen years has started to break.
Josie Wheel took it to Twitter to ask for help to find a specific model of the toy her sister Rosie had loved and cherished since her second birthday.
“They are no longer made and we’re running out of ones that work,” she tweeted.
The simple tweet garnered massive outreach and the response overall was heartwarming and overwhelming. According to Josie, Rosie has profound and multiple learning disabilities (PLMD) and would be “really excited” if she gets to see the new songs.
The specific model, a Vtech Light Up Learning Bug, has not been sold by the company for almost a decade.
“Rosie’s current working ladybug broke yesterday so in the efforts to fix one of our broken 15 we thought we’d give social media a go.
“We never expected the response to be so huge,” Josie adds.

The 18-year-old stated that “It’s really heartwarming that so many people are so determined to help, even though they know nothing about Rosie and out of the goodness of their heart they just want to help.”
Josie noted that many people had offered to help, promising about 15 replacements and more people are still responding to the tweet. She expects for it to go up to 30, which is exciting considering how much it would mean to Rosie. Some have also offered to fix the toy instead.
“She doesn’t completely understand everything that’s going on, due to her condition, but when she can physically see all of them she will be really excited,” says Josie.
Mother Lorraine Wheel is extremely delighted with the response they have attracted, stating that “Josie and her sister have the strongest bond and Josie will do anything to make sure that Rosie is the happiest girl ever.
“I couldn’t be more proud of her.”
