It was truly a spectacular sight when a group spotted a pod of whales in waters between Pulau Payar and Segantang in Langkawi recently.
The sighting of the mammals was recorded on a 76 second video and uploaded by a Tik Tok user @madylangkawi.

Spotted off Pulau Payar and Segantang: a whale pod enjoying lunch.
It was since gone viral and been shared on other media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.
In a reply to one comment, Mady said the whales were amid feeding when they spotted.
Most of the viewers expressed excitement over the discovery, especially since whales were only sighted abroad.

Time for some “makan”: Members of the pod enjoying their meal.
Some even suggested for the whale sighting to be turned into a new attraction for the tourist-friendly island.

“See ya next time!”- last member of the pod before diving back into the sea.
Meanwhile, Langkawi Fisheries Department officer Azahar Ahmad acknowledged that whales were occasionally sighted in Langkawi waters.
“Yes, the whales have indeed been sighted passing by Langkawi waters, but it is seasonal,” he said.
