Malaysian young female shooter, Nurul Syasya Nadiah Mohd Arifin is gunning for a slot in the 2024 Paris Olympics- and has the potential for it!

The national coach, Firdaus Abdul Rahim, said the opportunity for the 19-year-old shooter to book an early ticket to Paris is probable. She is scheduled to play at the World Championships in Cairo, Egypt from October 12 to 25.

Based on her current performance, he noted, Syasya, who finished sixth in the 10-meter individual water pistol event in her ISSF World Cup debut in Changwon, South Korea, yesterday had the potential for an even better performance to qualify for the 2024 Olympics.

She has already proven that she can performs well, even though the tournament now uses a new format (the two lowest-scoring shooter in each round of the final will be eliminated).

However, she will have to continue to work hard and train hard to adapt to the new competition format before the Olympic qualifier sessions begin in Cairo,” he said.

Yesterday, Syasya created a sensation when she claimed her spot in the final round, collecting 574 points and placing eights out of 37 shooters- simultaneously marking her national record in the event.

In the final action, yesterday, the Hanoi SEA Games gold medallist finished the competition at the sixth place, collecting a total of 197.1 points.

Syasya was unable to advance to the finals of the 10m water pistol mixed team event with Jonathan Wong as they finished 16th in the qualifying round.
